Why should I give my dog supplements?

While growing old, our dogs often develop conditions affecting their mobility, energy level and general well-being. Including supplements in their diets from a younger age can assist their journey of life, along with an active lifestyle and balanced diet.

How fast will I see a change?
This varies among dogs due to factors such as size, age, breed and current condition. 

Doesn’t my dog get all the necessary nutrients from their food?
Us humans may take a supplement or vitamin to increase valuable nutrients and antioxidants that we may not be getting enough of in our diet. The same practice holds true for our dogs. 

What are concerns that would require me to give my dog supplements?
Young or old, just like humans, our dogs can encounter various health concerns throughout their life. Decreased mobility within the hips and joints is the number one condition for aging dogs. Larger-breed dogs are more prone to these issues and may benefit from preventative supplemental care earlier in life. Other conditional issues your dog may experience throughout their life include, digestion problems, skin conditions and allergies, dental decay and anxiety. 

Who formulates Legend’s products and what are their credentials?
At Legend, we are committed to the best in quality and safety. We work with our manufacturer and their staff veterinarian in product formulation. Product research and development is under the direction of a Ph.D. Nutritional Biochemist. Our manufacturer produces product in an FDA-Registered facility and is a preferred manufacturer of the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC).  Our products are made in the U.S.A with domestic and globally sourced ingredients. 

What food safety inspections or qualifications are undertaken?
At Legend Dog Wellness, our manufacturer’s products strictly adhere to the FDA’s current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), preserving the purity of each chew and preventing microbiological, chemical and physical cross-contamination. Raw materials are routinely third-party tested to meet industry standards for identity, purity, strength, and composition.

Can I give these to my dog in addition to medications already being taken?
The healthiest dog maintains a watchful diet, daily exercise and regular veterinary visits. Our supplements are meant to work alongside those necessities. We always recommend consulting with your vet if you have any concerns about supplements if your Legend is taking medication for a certain condition.
